Chile committed to strengthening CARICOM ties

Chile has reconfirmed its commitment to building strong ties with Member States of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) for promotion of economic development and people’s well being.

 

New Chilean Ambassador to CARICOM H.E. Claudio Rojas Rachel outlined his country’s position when he presented his Letters of Credence to CARICOM Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque at the headquarters of the CARICOM Secretariat in Georgetown, Guyana, Wednesday.

 

Diabetes: A Big Problem for Years to Come

CARICOM Free Movement Sensitization to target Employers and Employees

 The CARICOM Secretariat is hosting a two-day sensitization workshop on Free Movement within the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME) starting Wednesday, March 23, 2016 in Trinidad and Tobago. The aim is to share information and increase awareness of the free movement regimes. The target groups for this activity are the private sector, employers’ organizations and trade unions in CARICOM Member States where free movement processes are operational. Approximately thirty stakeholders are participating in the Trinidad and Tobago workshop that will be held at the Hilton Hotel.

Press Statement on Incident Between Belize and Guatemala at Sarstoon

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) expresses its grave concern over the incident which took place at the Sarstoon River, the southern boundary of Belize with the Republic of Guatemala, between Belizean Security Forces and Guatemalan Armed Forces (GAF) on 12 March 2016. The GAF entered Belizean internal waters and acted in an intimidating manner towards the Belizean forces at their Forward Operating Base on Belize’s mainland at the mouth of the Sarstoon River.
