CARICOM mounts Observer Mission for Jamaica’s elections

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) is mounting a CARICOM Electoral Observer Mission to monitor the general elections to be held in Jamaica, Thursday 25 February 2016.

The Mission is being headed by Ms. Josephine Tamai, Chief Elections Officer, Elections and Boundaries Department, Belize.

The other members of the Mission comprise experts in electoral management and administration from Barbados, The Bahamas, Dominica, Saint Lucia,  St. Kitts and Nevis,   St Vincent and the Grenadines, and  Trinidad and Tobago.

Summit decides on measures to curb Zika virus spread

Prime Minister of Belize and Chairman of the Conference of the CARICOM Heads of Government Hon. Dean Barrow on Wednesday announced a series of actions that CARICOM Member States will take to confront the Zika virus that is affecting the Region.

CARICOM SG gets second term

CARICOM Secretary-General, Ambassador Irwin LaRocque has been reappointed to a second term of office.

CARICOM Chairman, Prime Minister Dean Barrow of Belize, made the announcement during the Closing Press Conference for the 27th CARICOM Inter-sessional Meeting in Placencia, Belize on Wednesday.

The Chairman said the decision by the Heads of Government was unanimous.  “The reward for good work is more work”, he said.
