The Nineteenth Meeting of the Council for Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR) of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) took place in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, on 9-10 May 2016, under the Chairmanship of the Honourable Sir Louis Straker, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Trade, Commerce and Regional Integration of  St Vincent and the Grenadines.

The critical importance of  CARICOM maintaining traditional relationships and building new ones was underscored by Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque as he addressed CARICOM Foreign Ministers who are gathered in St. Vincent and the Grenadines for the 19th Meeting of the Council for Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR).

CARICOM Foreign Ministers to discuss implications of major global issues

The Region’s Foreign Ministers gather in St. Vincent and the Grenadines this morning for the Nineteenth Meeting of CARICOM’s Council for Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR).

The two-day meeting will, among other things, examine the implications for the Caribbean Community of several emerging issues including the reshaping of the United States relations with Cuba and the pending British referendum on European Union membership.

‘Become the next big thing’ – Min. Nicolette Henry challenges girls

Girls and women across the Region have been challenged to become the next “big thing” in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

The challenge was thrown out last week by Minister in the Ministry of Education, Guyana, the Hon. Nicolette Henry as she addressed a forum on Girls in ICT in Georgetown, Guyana. The event at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre was held as part of the observances to mark Girls in ICT Day 2016 on 28 April.
