AGRICULTURE TAKES CENTRE-STAGE IN ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA

The week of activities – 12-20 October, 2012, will be officially opened on Wednesday 17 October, 2012.

The 27th Olympiad memories of the sterling performances and monumental achievement of the Region’s athletes remain fresh in our hearts and minds. And now the Region’s cricketers have added to this sense of euphoria by their resounding victory at the World T20 Championships.

CARICOM POISED FOR CARIBBEAN STATISTICS DAY 2012 CELEBRATION

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Caribbean Statistics Day 2012 will be observed on October 15 with a slate of activities to highlight the importance of statistics in national and regional development.

Under the theme `Working together to improve statistics in the twenty-first century and beyond’, the observance of Caribbean Statistics Day coincides with the celebration World Statistics Day.

CARICOM SECRETARY-GENERAL CONGRATULATES WEST INDIES CRICKET TEAM

COHSOD EXTOLS THE VALUE OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION IN SCHOOLS

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Ministers of Sport of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) opened their Special Meeting on Tuesday with a chorus of calls for increased emphasis on physical activity, particularly in the Region’s schools.

The Ministers are in Georgetown, Guyana attending the two-day 17th Special Meeting of the Council for Human and Social Development (COHSOD) which is being held under the theme: Promoting Inclusion, Health, Education and Development through Sport.

CARICOM SG CONGRATULATES PRESIDENT CHAVEZ ON RE-ELECTION

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Ambassador Irwin LaRocque, Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has extended congratulations to His Excellency Hugo Chavez, President of the Republic of Venezuela, on his re-election to office for an unprecedented fourth term.

SPECIAL COHSOD TO FOCUS ON SPORT AND DEVELOPMENT

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Senior officials are meeting in Georgetown this Monday in preparation for the Seventeenth Special Meeting of the Caribbean Community’s (CARICOM) Council for Human and Social Development (COHSOD) which focuses on Sports and opens in Guyana on Tuesday.

This Special Meeting of the COHSOD on Sport, under the theme, Promoting health, education, development and inclusion through sport, is a mandate from the Twenty-Second Meeting of the COHSOD on Sport, Youth and Culture held in Guyana in February of this year.
