(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Today across the Caribbean Community we observe Caribbean Wellness Day under the theme ‘Love that Body - Building the Foundation for Healthy Lifestyles'. For 2012 we are focusing on addressing the prevention and control of Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs) among the Regions’ children.

WELLNESS DAY OFF TO AN EARLY START

 (CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Caribbean Wellness Day (CWD) was ushered in before sunrise on Saturday at the headquarters of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat, Georgetown Guyana with hundreds of participants setting off on a Wellness walk.

LOVE THAT BODY SAYS DSG ON CARIBBEAN WELLNESS DAY

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Love that Body! was the rallying cry of Ambassador Lolita Applewhaite, Deputy Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community(CARICOM) as she addressed participants following a Caribbean Wellness Day walk in Georgetown, Guyana on Saturday.

CARIFORUM DG Wraps Up Official Visit to the Dominican Republic

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The Director-General of the Caribbean Forum of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (CARIFORUM) Directorate, Mr Ivan Ogando Lora, has just completed an official visit to the Dominican Republic. Mr Ogando’s trip to this CARIFORUM State came against the backdrop of its assumption of the Chairmanship of CARIFORUM from 1 July 2012, a position it will hold until 30 June 2013. The visit, which took place from 3-4 September, was mounted on behalf of the Secretary-General of CARIFORUM Ambassador Irwin La Rocque.

CARIFORUM moves to ensure Non-State Actors participation in EPA

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The Caribbean Forum of African Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) States (CARIFORUM) is moving to finalise its team for its side of the Consultative Committee with the European Union (EU). The Committee is one of the five institutions required under the CARIFORUM-EU Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA).

HAITIAN HEALTH MINISTER URGES PANCAP TO INTENSIFY EFFORTS

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Haiti’s Minister of Health and Chair of the Executive Board, Honourable Dr. Florence Duperval Guillaume, called on members of the Pan Caribbean Partnership against HIV and AIDS (PANCAP) to strengthen coordination efforts and to foster closer integration at all levels. The minister was delivering remarks to the Official Opening of the Nineteenth Meeting of the Executive Board of the Pan Caribbean Partnership (PANCAP) on 5 September, 2012, in Port – au – Prince, Haiti.

SECRETARY-GENERAL MOURNS LOSS OF FORMER PRIME MINISTER OF HAITI

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Ambassador Irwin LaRocque, Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has extended sympathy to the government and people of Haiti following the death of former Prime Minister, the Honourable Georges Jean-Jacques Smarck Michel.

The Secretary-General said that the former Prime Minister would be remembered for his efforts to boost Haiti’s economy and for his contribution to the wellbeing of the people of Haiti.
