The CARICOM Chairman said the victory ensured that 2012 would be a memorable one for sport in the Region, following on the golden performances of our Olympic and Paralympic athletes in London earlier this year.

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has expressed heartfelt appreciation to the government of Venezuela for its generosity in extending the PetroCaribe and ALBA initiatives to CARICOM Member States.
Those initiatives have contributed significantly to meeting the energy needs of the Region and to the implementation of social programmes and development initiatives in the Community, said Dr. the Honourable Kenny Anthony, Prime Minister of Saint Lucia and Chairman of the Conference of CARICOM Heads of Government.

Speaking on Tuesday, at the opening ceremony of the 17th Special Meeting of the Caribbean Community’s (CARICOM) Council for Human and Social Development (COHSOD) on Sport, the Minister said that not enough was being invested in it and extra lessons had robbed Caribbean children of play time.
