Executive Development Program on Energy Planning

In March 2013, the Latin American Energy Organization (OLADE ) commenced the Executive Development Program on Energy Planning (EDPEP) that targets energy professionals from Government and private sector agencies, Universities and Research Institutes, as well as, Consultants. The broad objective of the Program is to update and improve the knowledge and skills of professionals in issues related to energy planning in countries of the Latin American and Caribbean Region.

IRENA GENERAL ASSEMBLY MEETING

The Third General Assembly Meeting of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) was held on 13-14 January 2013 in Abu Dhabi, and the CARICOM Secretariat represented by its Programme Manager, Energy, participated as an Observer. Four CARICOM Member States were also represented, viz, Antigua and Barbuda, Grenada, Guyana, and St. Vincent and Grenadines.

OAS CSEP Project Host Workshop on Energy Efficiency Designs for Office and Public Buildings in Tropical Climates

The Organisation of Amercan States (OAS) Secretariat through the Caribbean Sustainable Energy Program (CSEP) and the Energy Efficiency Working Group of the Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas (ECPA), hosted a workshop on energy efficiency designs for office and public buildings in tropical climates. The event took place at the Bay Gardens Inn in Rodney Bay from February 28th through March 1st, 2013. The CARICOM Secretariat is a Partner of the CSEP Project.

 

ORGANISATION OF EASTERN CARIBBEAN STATES BENEFITING FROM SUSTAINABLE ENERGY TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE FROM THE CARIBBEAN DEVELOPMENT BANK

Member countries of the Organization of the Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) are currently receiving additional technical support to complement their on-going initiatives toward establishing a clearer path to a more sustainable energy future. Such technical support has been made possible through grant funding in excess of US $1.5 million provided by the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) to the Secretariat to the OECS for the Sustainable Energy Technical Assistance (SETA) Project.

TRAVEL AND TOURISM STATISTICS FOCUS AT REGIONAL WORKSHOP

​(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Travel and Tourism statistics will be in focus this week in Roseau, Dominica, as Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Member States continue to place greater emphasis on the development and use of statistics to respond to tourism and trade information needs.

CARIBBEAN SUSTAINABLE ENERGY ROADMAP AND STRATEGY (C-SERMS) AWARENESS WORKSHOP HELD IN TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO ON 28 FEBRUARY 2013

The overall objectives of the Workshop were to garner feedback and finalize the Study being done to establish Regional sustainable energy targets, as well as, to build awareness about the process going forward to fully establish the C-SERMS.  Approximately Sixty persons were in attendance including Senior Energy Officials, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives from the public and private sectors of CARICOM Member States, regional Universities and technical experts.
