Caribbean Regional Aid for Trade Strategy launches in Haiti -

Turning market access into market presence What is Aid for Trade?
Aid for Trade is a sub-set of official development assistance. In the broadest sense it refers to the flow of development finance/aid from developed countries and multilateral funding agencies to developing countries to enhance their participation in the multilateral trading system.

It is my pleasure to welcome you all on behalf of the Directorate of Human and Social Development and indeed the entire CARICOM Secretariat. I wish in particular to thank you Minister and your staff at the Ministry of Health for making the arrangements for hosting this meeting. I also wish to express great pleasure that The Hon. Orville London Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly has graced this opening ceremony with his presence.

PRESIDENT MARTELLY TO LAUNCH CARIBBEAN AID FOR TRADE STRATEGY

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The Caribbean Regional Aid for Trade (AfT) Strategy will be launched in Port-au-Prince, Haiti on Tuesday 11 June.

His Excellency Michel Martelly, the President of Haiti and Chairman of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), will be joined by Director General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) Pascal Lamy and Secretary-General of CARICOM, Ambassador Irwin LaRocque at the ceremony on Tuesday morning.

CARICOM ACTIVE THE OAS GENERAL ASSEMBLY

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Foreign Ministers of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) have expressed concerns to the Secretary-General of the Organisation of America States (OAS) that budget cuts threatened the provision of scholarships and the activities of OAS national offices in the Community.

CONSULTATIONS ON CARICOM FIVE YEAR STRATEGIC PLAN FOR CARICOM START IN BARBADOS

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Barbados is the country selected for the pilot of national consultations on a Five-year Strategic Plan for the Caribbean Community (CARICOM). The Strategic Plan is a critical part of the Reform process within CARICOM, which has been initiated by the Conference of Heads of Government.

EASTERN CARIBBEAN COURT OPINION ON CCJ FOR SAINT LUCIA

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Ambassador Irwin LaRocque has welcomed the judgement of the Eastern Caribbean Court of Appeal in respect of the process to be followed by Saint Lucia to provide for the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) as that country’s final court of appeal.
