CARICOM Broadcasters at workshop on Regional Integration and the CSME

CARICOM Secretary General reiterates call on Dominican Republic to “right terrible wrong”

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana)   Secretary General of the Caribbean Community, Ambassador Irwin LaRocque has reiterated the Community’s call on the Dominican Republic to take steps to “right the wrong” resulting from a ruling on nationality made by the Constitutional Court of the Dominican Republic. The ruling retroactively stripped tens of thousands of nationals from the Dominican Republic, mostly Haitians, of citizenship and rendered them stateless.

Haiti’s pride of place in history unquestionable - CARICOM Secretary-General

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana)     Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Ambassador Irwin LaRocque, has extended congratulations and best wishes to Haiti on the occasion of its 210th anniversary of independence celebrated on Wednesday, 1 January 2014.

In a congratulatory message to His Excellency Michel Martelly, President of the Republic of Haiti, the Secretary-General said that Haiti’s pride of place in history was unquestionable.

End of Year Message By The Hon. Kamla Persad-Bissessar Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago and Chairman of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM)

The year 2013 has come to a close and with it, my tenure as Chairman of the Conference of the Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).
My Chairmanship coincided with the celebration of the 40th anniversary of our Community and it was my distinct honour and privilege to have hosted the Thirty-Fourth Conference of Heads of Government, and, on the 4th of July, the commemoration of our milestone at Chaguaramas, the birthplace of our Community.

End of Year Message by Ambassador Irwin LaRocque,  Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM)

2013 was a reflective and celebratory year for the Community as we marked our 40th Anniversary.  That we have come thus far is testimony to our determination and commitment to forge a common destiny as small unified States in this unique corner of the world called the Caribbean.  Our Anniversary Theme of ‘Celebration and Renewal’ remains relevant as we bask in our Caribbean-ness, rekindle the spirit of Community and continue our integration quest with an outlook that is shaped by new thinking and different approaches.

SG praises Grenada’s leadership in ICT

CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana)     Secretary General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Ambassador Irwin LaRocque praised Grenada for leading by example in using Information and Communications Technology (ICT) to create an enabling environment to pursue its social and economic development goals.
The Secretary-General was speaking during a ceremony at the CARICOM Secretariat in Georgetown Guyana where he received the credentials of Grenada’s new Ambassador to the Community, His Excellency Patrick Antoine.
