GEORGETOWN, Guyana, CMC – A survey conducted by the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) has found that the multi-million dollar Marriott Hotel is not considered a priority by business groups even though the Donald Ramotar government says it is among the flagship projects in Guyana.
THE South American country of Guyana is trying to decide what to do with a large quantity of gold it bought from local miners when demand was high. President Donald Ramotar said Saturday that he will meet with advisers to determine when it's best to sell the gold following a recent fall in prices. He declined to say how much gold the Guyana Gold Board had bought from local miners, but miners' association spokesman Tony Shields puts the number at 60,000 ounces. He says the association warned the government about dropping prices.

GEORGETOWN, Guyana, Stabroek News -The delivery of health and education is to get a further boost with the arrival of yet another batch of United States Peace Corps volunteers. The American embassy here announced, through a press release, that 30 more Peace Corps trainees arrived in Georgetown today to complement their 35 colleagues already in service. The new trainees will make up the 25th group of Peace Corps volunteers to serve this country and will be officially sworn in on July 3, after completing their pre-service training.

WASHINGTON, CMC - The World Bank has commended Guyana for its Education Strategic Plan, saying it is seeking to achieve the “Education for All” goals and Millennium Development Goals (MDG) by 2015.
