The Sixth Meeting of the Regional Task Force on Crime and Security of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) was held in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago from October 30 to November 01, 2002.

It was presided over by Mr. Lancelot Selman, Chairman of the Regional Task Force on Crime and Security for the Caribbean Community.

COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE FIFTH MEETING OF THE COUNCIL FOR FOREIGN AND COMMUNITY RELATIONS (COFCOR), 6-7 MAY 2002, CASTRIES, SAINT LUCIA

The Fifth Meeting of the Council for Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR) was held in Castries, Saint Lucia on 6-7 May, 2001. The Ministers attending were: the Hon. The Sixth Meeting of the Council for Social and Human Development (COHSOD) was held on 17-19 April 2002 in Georgetown, Guyana under the Chairmanship of the Hon. Dr. Douglas Slater, Minister of Health and the Environment, St Vincent and the Grenadines. The Meeting was attended by Dr the Hon. Jerome Walcott, Minister of Health, Barbados; Dr the Hon. Leslie Ramsammy, Minister of Health, Guyana; the Hon. John Junor, Minister of Health, Jamaica; the Hon. Earl Martin, Minister of Health and the Environment, St Kitts and Nevis; the Hon.

COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE THIRD UK-CARIBBEAN MINISTERIAL FORUM, 3-5 APRIL 2002, GEORGETOWN, GUYANA

1.    The Third UK-Caribbean Forum, hosted by the Government of Guyana, took place in Georgetown, Guyana from 3 to 5 April, 2002. The Forum was co-chaired by the Hon. S.R. Insanally, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guyana, and current Chairman of the CARICOM Council for Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR) and from the UK side, the Rt. Hon. Jack Straw, the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs and Baroness Amos, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Minister responsible for UK-Caribbean Relations.

Joint Communique issued at the conclusion of the Eighth CARICOM-Japan Consultation, 4-5 March 2002,  St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda

The Eight Caribbean Community (CARICOM)-Japan Consultation was held at the Jolly Beach Resort in Antigua and Barbuda on 4-5 March 2002. The Delegation of CARICOM Member States was headed by Ambassador Colin Murdoch of Antigua and Barbuda and that of the Government of Japan was headed by Mr. Ken Shimanouchi, Director-General of the Latin American and Caribbean Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

COMMUNIQUÉ ISSUED AT CONCLUSION OF MEETING BETWEEN CARIBBEAN HEALTH MINISTERS AND REPRESENTATIVES OF LEADING PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANIES ON ACCESS TO CARE FOR PEOPLE LIVING WITH HIV/AIDS IN THE REGION, 18-19 FEBRUARY 2002, KINGSTON, JAMAICA

At a meeting at the Hilton Hotel, Kingston Jamaica, on 18-19 February 2002, Health Ministers of the Caribbean countries held a successful round of discussions with representatives of leading pharmaceutical Companies on access to care for people living with HIV/AIDS in the Region. This meeting was the first stage in a process and comes close on the heels of Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica developing their own national plans in partnership with United Nations agencies and the pharmaceutical industry.
