BAHAMAS-MIGRATION-Bahamas and Haiti to discuss illegal migration

NASSAU, Bahamas, CMC – The Bahamas and Haiti will hold talks in Port au Prince next week on the vexing issue of illegal migration, Prime Minister Perry Christie has said.


Christie, briefing reporters on his attendance at the 25th Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Inter-Sessional summit that ended in St. Vincent and the Grenadines late Tuesday night, said that the matter had been raised during the two-day summit.

CARICOM moves ahead with Single ICT Space

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana)     The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) will focus over the next two years on unveiling the Single Information Communication Technology ICT Space as the digital layer of the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME).
Chairman of the Conference of Heads of Government, Dr. the Hon. Ralph Gonsalves, Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, said Tuesday evening that a Roadmap to this end would be developed and presented to the Heads of Government Meeting in July 2015.

Martinique Continues Push For Associate Membership in CARICOM

Martinique Regional Council President Serge Letchimy’s historic visit to the CARICOM Heads of Government conference is part of a bid for associate membership status in the regional bloc.

The French Caribbean department first began the process of applying for membership in the summer of 2012.

Letchimy’s visit represents the first time a president of the island’s regional council has been invited to speak at the Conference of Heads of State and Government.

There appears to be a resolution towards the issue of accommodating Guyanese law students at the Hugh Wooding Law Faculty for the upcoming academic year, Legal Affairs Minister and Attorney General (AG) Anil Nandlall said today.

The AG was part of the Guyana delegation participating in the 25th Inter-Sessional CARICOM Heads of Government meeting in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

Reform Consultations and Commission on Economy endorse relevance of CSME

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana)     Speaking about the on-going CARICOM Reform Process, Secretary General of the Caribbean Community Ambassador Irwin LaRocque said it had validated the relevance of the CSME as the platform from which to build the Community’s economic resilience.
Ambassador LaRocque was speaking during the opening ceremony of the Twenty-Fifth Intersessional Meeting of the CARICOM Heads of Government in St. Vincent and the Grenadines on Monday.

PM Douglas had busy morning session at Inter-Sessional in St. Vincent
