Manning a true regionalist – CARICOM Chairman

CARICOM Chairman, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit of Dominica, has described the late Patrick Manning as a true regionalist and a man with a strong commitment to building his country and the wider CARICOM.

Mr. Manning, a former Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago who led his country from 1991-95 and from 2001-2010, died on Saturday at age 69.

Prime Minister Skerrit in a Statement said Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean Community have lost a truly great man.

Guyana, SVG win male, female CARICOM 10k title

Four time CARICOM  10k winner Cleveland Forde of Guyana copped his fifth title in the latest edition of the CARICOM 10k Race on Sunday morning (July 3) in his native Guyana. He completed the race in 32:39 minutes. Linda McDonald  brought victory to St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the female category with a time of 37:57.  The second place in the male category went to Curtis Cox of Trinidad and Tobago clocking in at 32:56 while Winston Missingher of Guyana raced to third place with a time of 33:28.

Co-hosting CARICOM Summit symbolises Guyana’s commitment to integration – Guyana Foreign Minister

Guyana’s co-hosting of the upcoming Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM symbolises a continued commitment to its involvement in deliberations that support the processes and institutions of integration.

This is the view of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guyana, the Hon. Carl Greenidge who sat down for an interview with the CARICOM Secretariat ahead of the 37th Heads of Government Meeting 4-6 July in Georgetown, Guyana.

SG welcomes Nicaragua to ‘CARICOM family’

Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Ambassador Irwin LaRocque has emphasised that small states working together could make a difference.

Speaking at a ceremony accepting the credentials of His Excellency Valdrack L. Jaentschke as Nicaragua’s Ambassador to CARICOM, Ambassador LaRocque stressed that working together in regional, hemispheric and international fora could ensure that the impediments to the development of small states would be addressed.

Building the CARICOM Communications Network

As efforts continue to develop a network of CARICOM Communications professionals, a sub-group mainly from Caribbean Community Institutions in Barrbados and the CARICOM Secretariat recommitted to closer collaboration during a recent lunch-meeting at CDB Headquarters, Barbados.
