CARICOM Heads of Government have mandated the intensification of a public information campaign on the benefits and provisions of the regional flagship programme, the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME), as well as a comprehensive review of programme.
The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) is closer to setting up a labour market information system for the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME).
Secretary-General, Ambassador Irwin LaRoque, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on behalf of the CARICOM Secretariat with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) in June. The MOU allows CARICOM Member States to utilise ‘.Stat’, a software tool, for the facilitation of labour market analysis and other related functions. The MOU was signed at the CARICOM Secretariat’s headquarters in Georgetown, Guyana.
The Caribbean Community has extended congratulations to The Bahamas on the occasion of its 43rd anniversary of Independence celebrated on 10 July, 2016.
In a message to Prime Minister the Right Hon. Perry Christie, CARICOM Secretary-General, Ambassador Irwin LaRocque said that The Bahamas was a valued member of the Community. He also praised The Bahamas for its socio-economic, democratic and political accomplishments

CARICOM Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque on Saturday paid tribute, on behalf of the Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community, at the state funeral for former Prime Minister Mr. Patrick Manning.
The Tribute was drafted at the just concluded 37th CARICOM Heads of Government meeting in Guyana, at which all Member States were represented.

One of the major aims of the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME) is to stimulate economic growth and competitiveness by facilitating intra-regional commercial activity. An important project being executed by the CSME Unit of the CARICOM Secretariat will make this increasingly possible. On Monday, the Secretariat hosts a 2-day regional consultation in Trinidad and Tobago on the development of a framework policy on establishing a single jurisdiction within the CSME.
The CARICOM Standard was flown at half-staff at the Headquarters of the CARICOM Secretariat in Georgetown, Guyana, Friday as a mark of respect for the late former Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Mr. Patrick Manning. This will continue until Mr. Manning’s funeral on Saturday.
Mr. Manning, who led the twin-island Republic from 1990-95 and again from 2001 – 2010, died on Saturday at the age of 69.
The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) is advancing its efforts to address de-risking and its effects on the Region, and Heads of Government have taken the decision to directly approach the government of the United States.
Let me thank my fellow Heads of Government for their warm welcome as the new Prime Minister of Saint Lucia. The numerous congratulatory messages received from the entire region speaks to the profound respect given to this new designation, which the people of my beautiful country have bestowed on me and my Government. I am indeed honoured to stand here to represent my country. As the newest head of state I look forward to meeting with each of you to discuss how we can further strengthen regional integration.
The Thirty-Seventh Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) was held at Georgetown, Guyana, on 4 - 6 July 2016. The Prime Minister of Dominica, the Honourable Roosevelt Skerrit, chaired the proceedings.
