CARICOM Heads to champion ECWECC initiative: Violence against women and women’s and children’s health are priority interventions

CARICOM Heads of the Government have agreed to champion the Every Caribbean Woman Every Caribbean Child (ECWECC) initiative and other activities focussed on addressing violence against women and women’s and children’s health.

The ECWECC initiative revolves around opportunities to improve the lives of women, children and adolescents. It focuses on four priority issues: teenage pregnancy; violence against women and children (including trafficking in persons); cervical cancer and mother to child transmission of HIV (MTCT)in the Caribbean.

The Twenty-Eighth Intersessional Meeting of CARICOM Heads of Government concluded a short while ago. I am very pleased to report that we had two successful days of discussions and decisions on issues that are important to moving the Community towards its objectives.

During the course of our discussions, the Conference of Heads of Government reflected on the importance of the CARICOM ‘Brand’, and the pride that we have in our citizenship, citizenry and membership.

Forum of CARICOM First Ladies/Spouses of Heads of State and Government Every Caribbean Woman,  Every Caribbean Child

First Ladies and Spouses of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) convened a Forum under the theme “Every Caribbean Woman, Every Caribbean Child” at the Guyana Marriott Hotel, Georgetown, Guyana on 16 February 2017.  The aim of the Forum was to agree on priorities and strategies for implementing a programme of work to enhance the health and well-being of Caribbean women and children.   The Forum was chaired by H.E. Mrs.

CARICOM to implement system to measure results of integration

The reform process that is underway in the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) is working towards a Results Based Management (RBM) system that will measure the tangible results of regional integration mechanisms.

Forum of CARICOM First Ladies and Spouses to move forward Every Caribbean Woman, Every Caribbean Child Initiative

he high rate of violence against women will be among issues discussed when the Forum of the Caribbean Community’s (CARICOM’s) Spouses of Heads of State and Government on the Every Caribbean Woman, Every Caribbean Child (ECWECC) initiative begins in Guyana tomorrow.

The Guyana-based CARICOM Secretariat said that the two-day meeting will seek to hammer out the specifics on the way forward for this initiative.
