Community Council holds 53rd Meeting

Guyana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Hon. Hugh Todd recently chaired the Fifty-Third Meeting of the Community Council of Ministers which discussed important Community matters including the provisional agenda for the Forty-Seventh Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government, scheduled from 3-5 July 2024 in St George’s, Grenada.

CARICOM Team Holds Talks with UNFCCC Executive Secretary

The practical ways that the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Secretariat can support the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) in its preparations for COP 29 was a key topic when a CARICOM team held talks with the UNFCCC.

The discussions on Monday 27 May, were held during the Fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States in Antigua and Barbuda, and also focused on the outcomes of COP 28.

CARICOM SG attends high-level breakfast hosted by UNGA President

Dr. Carla Barnett, CARICOM Secretary-General, on Tuesday 28 May, attended a high-level breakfast hosted by His Excellency Dennis Francis, President of the United Nations General Assembly President (UNGA). Discussions at the event focused on sea level rise. The event was held on the margins of the Fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4) Conference in Antigua and Barbuda.

CARICOM Statement on the Designation of a Prime Minister in Haiti

The Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) welcome the news of the designation of a Transitional Prime Minister in Haiti. The unanimous election of Dr. Garry Conille by the Transitional Presidential Council (TPC), following a selection process with nominations from several stakeholder sectors, is another important step forward on the path to free and fair elections and the return to constitutional order in Haiti.

CARICOM Secretary-General continues bilateral engagements in Antigua and Barbuda

Dr. Carla Barnett, CARICOM Secretary-General, on Tuesday continued rounds of bilateral meetings in Antigua and Barbuda that focused on support to CARICOM, sustainable development, climate change and foreign policy matters.

The Secretary-General engaged in talks with Norway, Romania, and Japan on the margins of the Fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4) in Antigua and Barbuda.
