A major deliverable of the Special Ministerial Taskforce on Food Production and Food Security (MTF) is to assist with the de-risking of the sector through the provision of agricultural insurance for farmers within the CARICOM Region. The 47th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) will now be held from 28 -30 July in St George’s, Grenada.
Hurricane Beryl dealt a “serious blow” to Grenada’s efforts to reduce its food import bill by 25 percent by next year, the Hon. Dickon Mitchell, Prime Minister of Grenada said.
The Category 4 hurricane hit Grenada, particularly Carriacou and Petite Martinique, on 1 July 2024.
The Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Dr. Carla Barnett has lauded The Bahamas as “an example of remarkable socio-economic development within the Region,” as the Member State marks its Fifty-First Anniversary of Independence on 10 July 2024.
