A DECADE OF DEDICATED DELIVERY : OPENING REMARKS BY DR. ​ I extend greetings to you from the Staff of the Directorate of Human and Social Development ,and in so doing could not help reflecting on the mixed fortunes of this Council, its ever changing composition, due to the democratic processes to which our Member States adhere and to overwhelming progress to be celebrated in what may be termed a decade of dedicated delivery.

CCC links with Latin America

​The Chairman of the Caricom Competition Commission (CCC), Dr Kusha Haraksingh, was selected to preside over the meeting on Strategies for Competition Advocacy at the 8th Annual Meeting of the Latin American Competition Forum in San Jose, Costa Rica on 8-9 September 2010.

The meeting featured a background paper by the Head of Competition Outreach of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and country presentations from Brazil, El Salvador and Chile, with the President of Spain’s Competition Agency as the lead discussant.

Consultations on ICT4D Strategy begin in Grenada

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana)     Stakeholders across the Region will, from Thursday 11 November, have an opportunity to discuss and refine the contents of a draft Information Communication Technologies for Development (ICT4D) Strategy when a Regional Consultation and Awareness Campaign is launched in St. George’s, Grenada.

This workshop takes place at an important moment in history. With last week’s MDG Summit at the United Nations in New York evaluating the progress made mid-way to reach the targets set in 2005, we find ourselves in a World where close to one billion men, women and children remain undernourished. This is unacceptable.
