New School in Haiti to be named in honor of CARICOM

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana)     A new school which was built under the Medianet Haiti Relief Fund (TMHRF) is to be called the CARICOM Community School of Digue Matheux in honor of CARICOM’s solidarity with the project.  Under the fund, fifteen houses were also handed over to beneficiaries.

Environment, ICTs focus at Statistics workshops

CARICOM - Cuba solidify diplomatic relations

We remember with gratitude, 8 December , 1972, when four Caribbean nations - Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago - simultaneously decided to establish full diplomatic relations with Cuba.

CARICOM SG welcomes APD revision

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana)     Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Ambassador Irwin LaRocque has welcomed the announcement by the Chancellor of the Exchequer of the United Kingdom, the Hon. George Osborne that the UK will restructure the four-band Air Passenger Duty (APD) system. This tax has negatively affected the Region’s tourism sector and the realignment to a simpler and fairer two-band system is in keeping with the proposals advanced by the Community.
