President Robinson was a true Caribbean Man – SG LaRocque

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana)     The legacy of the Honourable Arthur Napoleon Robinson OCC to the Caribbean Community “has endured and will ensure that he will be remembered as a true Caribbean Man.” So said Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Ambassador Irwin LaRocque as he paid tribute to the former President of Trinidad and Tobago who passed away on Wednesday.

PM Spencer Pays Tribute to the Life and Work of ANR Robinson

ST. JOHN’S, Antigua & Barbuda – 9th April, 2014…….Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda and Chairman of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States, the Hon. W. Baldwin Spencer has paid tribute to the life and work of former Prime Minister and President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, ANR Robinson who passed away on Wednesday following a period of illness.

Brief Statement by His Excellency Irwin LaRocque Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community on the passing of Mr Arthur Napoleon Raymond Robinson former Prime Minister and former President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago

I am extremely saddened by his passing even though he had been hospitalised it still came as a shock.  The Caribbean Community has lost one of its truly great sons who will always be remembered for his historic role at the landmark Grand Anse Meeting in 1989, where the decision was taken to significantly deepen our integration.  To his family, and the Government and people of Trinidad and Tobago, I convey my deepest condolences.

Community Institutions discuss CARICOM Draft Strategic Plan

CEBO continues with Training of Trainers Workshop in Trinidad and Tobago

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana)     The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat led Creativity for Employment and Business Opportunity (CEBO) programme continued with a training of trainers workshop in Trinidad and Tobago on Monday (7 April).

The project which is being funded under the CARICOM- Spain Citizen Security project is intended to enhance the capacity for sustainable livelihoods among youth by introducing CEBO in five Member States, namely, Antigua and Barbuda, Grenada, Montserrat, Saint Lucia and Trinidad and Tobago.

Latest CARICOM View:  40th Anniversary Celebrations In Focus

The Caribbean Community in 2013 observed its 40th anniversary with Heads of Government returning to the Community’s cradle at Chaguaramas, Trinidad and Tobago, for celebratory activities that included a rededication to the principles of the founding Treaty of Chaguaramas.
The March 2014 edition of the CARICOM View offers an insight into the activities of the 40th anniversary, and highlights the strong integration sentiments of the Heads of Government of the four founding Member States – Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago.

EU support boosts CARICOM Merchandise Trade Statistics

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana)     As efforts continue to provide core, high quality statistics to regional decision-makers for the establishment and monitoring of the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME), staff members of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat on Monday were brought up to date on new systems for Merchandise Trade Statistics. A consultancy in that regard got underway this week with a briefing session at the CARICOM Secretariat in Georgetown, Guyana.
