CARICOM Region Prepares For WTO 10th Ministerial Conference

BRIDGETOWN, BARBADOS – In preparation for the upcoming World Trade Organization (WTO) 10th Ministerial Conference (MC10), Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Member States met to review the state of play of the WTO Doha Round of Negotiations, and their approach to preserve their interests in the context of MC10. The meeting which was held October 15‐16, 2015 in Barbados was convened by the CARICOM Secretariat, with the support of the Commonwealth Secretariat.

CARICOM SG extends condolences to Turkey

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana)     CARICOM Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque has expressed the Community’s solidarity with the Government and People of Turkey as they mourn the loss of lives from the recent tragic bombings in the capital, Ankara.
 
Almost 100 persons were killed and scores injured from the twin explosions on 10 October.
 

Call for more political dialogue between CARICOM and EU

The need for greater political dialogue and co-operation between the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the European Union was emphasised as the new EU Ambassador to CARICOM presented his credentials yesterday.

CARICOM Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque noted that co-operation could be further enhanced by increasing the political dialogue while EU Ambassador Mikael Barfod spoke of the need to strengthen the political co-operation. They were speaking at the presentation ceremony at the headquarters of the CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Guyana.

CARICOM and Cuba to Meet in Havana

The Ninth Meeting of the Joint Commission under the Trade and Economic Cooperation Agreement between CARICOM and The Republic of Cuba will take place in Havana, Cuba on 6 – 7 October, 2015.

 The Second India – Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Ministerial Meeting was held in New York on September 30, 2015 in the margins of the 70th session of the UNGA.  The Minister of External Affairs, Ms. Sushma Swaraj, led the Indian delegation and the  Hon. Alva Baptiste, Minister External Affairs, Trade and Civil Aviation of Saint Lucia, led the CARICOM delegation.  The meeting was attended by all CARICOM Member countries.
