CARICOM Energy Week launches 7 November with `Kilo Walk’

CARICOM Energy Week 2015 will be launched on Saturday with a `Kilo Walk’ that begins at 6:00 am at the CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana.

The Week, from November 7-14, will be observed under the theme ‘Empowering our Sustainable Development’.

PANCAP to hold Third Meeting of AIDS Programme Managers and Key Partners

The Pan Caribbean Partnership Against HIV and AIDS (PANCAP) will hold its third Annual Meeting of National AIDS Programme (NAP) Managers and Key Partners in Trinidad and Tobago, at the Hyatt Hotel, on 28-30 October 2015. Trinidad and Tobago Minister of Health, Hon. Mr. Terrence Deyalsingh will open the meeting.

 

Influenza Activity in the Caribbean

For the year to date, the Caribbean Public Health
Agency (CARPHA) received 284 samples for influenza virus testing. Forty-seven (47) tested positive of which 14 were typed as Influenza A H1N1. 

CARICOM Elections Observation Mission to Haiti issues Preliminary Statement

Sunday’s Presidential and Parliamentary elections in Haiti has been engaged in various activities since its arrival, including  meetings with the Haitian Prime Minister and other State officials.

The Mission  issued a Preliminary Statement (see below) on Friday, as the 5.8  million registered voters prepare to choose from among fifty-three Presidential candidates and also vote in the second round of the Legislative elections for seats in the Lower House and Senate in Haiti’s 119 constituencies.

 

CARICOM and Costa Rica to promote joint interests

Costa Rica has committed to finding common ground with the Caribbean Community on global climate change positions.

Costa Rica’s first Ambassador to CARICOM, Ms. Lydia Peralta noted  CARICOM-Costa Rica’s shared climate change concerns and interests as she presented her credentials to CARICOM Secretary-General, Ambassador Irwin LaRocque at the Secretariat Headquarters, Georgetown, Guyana on Wednesday.

CARICOM-US cooperation hailed for tangible benefits

CARICOM-US deepening cooperation in security, health and energy was underscored Tuesday as Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque received new United States Ambassador to CARICOM Mr. Perry Holloway.
