Chatting CARICOM - Part 3 of 4

The third programme in the live television series, “Chatting CARICOM” was broadcast across the Region on Wednesday 28 June 2017 at 8 pm.

The panel featured the Barbados Ambassador to #CARICOMorg, Mr. Robert Morris and the Officer-in-Charge of the CSME Unit, Ms. Gladys Young.The focus was on the Free Movement of Skills.

The programme is part of the visibility for the projects carried out under the 10th EDF but also gives an update on the work being  done by the CARICOM Secretariat.. Please see below for a recording of this broadcast:

 

UK commits to closer relations with CARICOM

Even as the United Kingdom continues to face its fair share of challenging events, it has committed to closer relations with the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).

New High Commissioner of the UK to the Eastern Caribbean and CARICOM, Her Excellency Janet Douglas said on Thursday, 22 June, that her country wanted to infuse fresh vigour in its relations with the Region. She was at time presenting her Letter of Credence to CARICOM Secretary-General, Ambassador Irwin LaRocque, at the CARICOM Secretariat in Georgetown, Guyana.

CCCCC participates in the GCF Structured Dialogue with the Caribbean

Member of Staff  of the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre are currently participating in the The Green Climate Fund’s Structured Dialogue with the Caribbean held in Placencia, Belize, from June 19-22, 2017.  The Structured Dialogue is organized in collaboration with the Government of Belize and the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre with the intention to bring together key stakeholders to increase the involvement of Caribbean countries with the GCF.

CARICOM Immigration, Customs Officers to receive training on CSME

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) CARICOM Immigration and Customs Officers will undergo training next week to clarify the roles and functions of Border Officers. The training is also geared at ensuring that there is a common understanding of the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME) in general, and the Free Movement of Persons (FMP) in particular.

CARICOM ASG highlights progress in Youth Development

Assistant Secretary General In Charge of Human and Social Development at the CARICOM Secretariat Dr, Douglas Slater  has highlighted a number of areas where progress has been made in youth development in the Region. Dr. Slater was speaking at the opening ceremony for a CARICOM Youth Ambassadors Orientation and Capacity Building Workshop. The event is being held at the CARICOM Secretariat in Georgetown, Guyana and will conclude on Thursday 8 June, 2017.
