CARICOM welcomes new ambassadors from Dominica, Azerbaijan

(CARICOM Secretary-General, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) - Dr Carla Barnett, Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretary-General, has commended Dominica’s leadership in regional integration, as the Community navigates the goal of free movement within CARICOM.

This was highlighted during the virtual accreditation of His Excellency Gerard Jean-Jacques as Dominica’s new Ambassador to CARICOM.

(Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) - Describing 2024 as “very active and rewarding,” CARICOM Secretary-General, Dr Carla Barnett expressed optimism for 2025, noting the Community’s commitment to building on its achievements and embracing new challenges and opportunities.

At the 54th Meeting of the Community Council of Ministers on January 16, Dr Barnett highlighted the gains made in 2024, which she said should serve as a source of confidence as CARICOM continues to benefit its people.

CARICOM industrial sector to benefit from Japan-funded grant aid

(Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) - Fourteen CARICOM Member States are expected to benefit from a Japan-funded grant aid programme intended to address industrial sector vulnerabilities.

Japan and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) signed an agreement for a 730-million-yen project titled “Project for Industrial Development and Technology Transfer in Member States of the Caribbean Community.”

CARICOM foreign ministers in Japan for bilateral talks

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) - CARICOM foreign ministers are in Japan from 12-14 December to consolidate long-standing cooperation and a year of robust engagement with Japan.

The Eighth CARICOM-Japan Ministerial Meeting which will be held on 14 December in Tokyo, Japan, culminates the CARICOM-Japan Friendship Year 2024. The year marks three decades of friendship between the Community and Japan, and 60 years of diplomatic relations between Japan and Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago respectively.
