On Wednesday, May 28, CARICOM Secretary-General Dr. Carla Barnett held discussions with high-ranking members of the Colombian government on the sidelines of the Third Meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of CARICOM and the Republic of Colombia.
ARICOM continues to uphold democratic traditions in the Region by deploying Election Observation Missions (CEOMs) at the request of Member States. These missions provide an independent, impartial, and honest assessment of the preparations for and conduct of General Elections. Suriname invited CARICOM to observe its General Elections on May 25, 2025.

CARICOM Secretary-General, Dr. Carla Barnett is leading the Secretariat’s delegation to the Third Meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the Republic of Colombia, which will be held in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, on May 28, 2025. The theme of the meeting is “Sustainable Development and Climate Change.”
