CARICOM Secretary-General Engages Colombian Government Officials

On Wednesday, May 28, CARICOM Secretary-General Dr. Carla Barnett held discussions with high-ranking members of the Colombian government on the sidelines of the Third Meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of CARICOM and the Republic of Colombia.

Dr. Barnett engaged in a dialogue with the Vice President of Colombia, Her Excellency Francia Márquez on matters including the Second Decade for People of African Descent, the CARICOM-Colombia Joint Action plan and enhancing air connectivity between Colombia and CARICOM Member States through Avianca Airlines and other Caribbean airlines.

The discussions also covered Afro-descendant reparations, with Colombia expressing its support for CARICOM's Ten Point Plan for Reparatory Justice.

The Secretary-General also held talks with Colombia’s Minister of Sports, Patricia Duque Cruz where the 2025 Central American and Caribbean School Games, scheduled for later this year, were discussed.
