The Culture and Community Development Programme is responsible for coordination of regional policies and programmes in Culture and Community Development. In CARICOM, culture is central to the promotion of regional identity and unity and contributes to the effective implementation of the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME). The focus of the Culture Programme is on the development of cultural and creative industries, promoting the Region’s rich and diverse culture and securing reparations for native genocide and slavery.
Culture is essential to building economic and social resilience, promoting social inclusion and strengthening CARICOM identity and spirit of Community.
Gender and Development Programme
The Gender and Development Programme seeks to implement strategies towards building social resilience aligned to equitable human and social development and mainstream gender across Community policies and programmes.
The Programme is involved in the finalisation of the first CARICOM Regional Gender Equality Strategy (RGES) - Stepping it Up — A Strategy to Achieve Gender Equality in the Region.
