The performance of the Team last Saturday in the final of the ICC one-day tournament Champions Trophy must go on record as one of the greatest catalysts for West Indian unity and pride ever.

The jubilation of the team and spectators at the decisive "boundary" reverberated throughout the CARICOM Member States and the Diaspora to whom Cricket remains their national game and a cultural passion.

CARICOM electoral observer mission to the by-elections in the Turks and Caicos Islands, 4–9 august 2003 : Preliminary statement

The CARICOM Electoral Observer Mission was mounted at the invitation of the Government of the Turks and Caicos Islands to monitor the conduct of the by-elections in Five Cays and South Caicos on 7 August 2003.

In the Mission’s assessment, the by-elections were conducted in a free and peaceful manner and good spirit. The process was transparent and the secrecy of the ballot was respected. The polling officials managed the process fairly and competently. The vote count was carried out accurately and efficiently in the presence of the candidates and their agents.

MESSAGE FROM THE SECRETARY- GENERAL OF THE CARIBBEAN COMMUNITY (CARICOM) ON THE DEATH OF THE MINISTER OF TOURISM OF BERMUDA

It is with deep sorrow that I have learned of the passing of the Hon. David Allen, Minister of Tourism. The Government and People of Bermuda have lost a dynamic and committed representative.

The Region's Tourism Sector will sorely miss the energy and leadership which he so passionately displayed during his tenure as a member of the Board of Directors of the Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO).

CAYMAN ISLANDS NEWEST ASSOCIATE MEMBER OF CARICOM

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) formally welcomes the Cayman Islands as an Associate Member of the Community. They now join Turks and Caicos, The British Virgin Islands and Anguilla as Associate Members.

COMMUNIQUÉ ISSUED AFTER DISCUSSIONS BETWEEN THE CARIBBEAN COMMUNITY (CARICOM) AND BERMUDA REGARDING BERMUDA’S APPLICATION FOR ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP OF CARICOM, 11-13 JULY 2001

In fulfillment of a mandate from the Twenty-Second Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), a Team from the CARICOM Secretariat comprising Dr. Edward Greene, Assistant Secretary-General, Human and Social Development, and Ms. Gloria Richards- Johnson, Assistant General Counsel, visited Bermuda from 11-13 July 2001, for high level discussions with the Hon. Jennifer Smith, Premier of Bermuda, and other officials, regarding Bermuda's application for Associate Membership of CARICOM.
