Honourable Secretary General,

I am pleased to bring you greetings from the President of the Republic of Chile, Mrs. Michelle Bachelet and from the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Alejandro Foxley.

It is truly a privilege to be welcomed by you in your capacity as Secretary General of CARICOM, understanding the enormous contribution being made by this institution in the noble task of uniting the people of the Caribbean.

Agriculture recognised as vital to CARICOM Economic Development

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Single Market Advisor with the CARICOM Secretariat, Ms Desiree Field Ridley has cited Agriculture as one of the Community’s critical responses to the global challenges now impacting the Region’s economic well-being.

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The palm tree which is so synonymous with the tourism industry in the Caribbean is under threat from a small red mite that has taken root and is severely affecting palm trees across the Caribbean Basin.
