His Excellency Edwin Carrington, Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), has hailed the contributions of former President of Guyana, Mrs. Janet Jagan to the development of Guyana.
“Hers was truly a life lived for her people,” the Secretary-General said.
Mrs. Jagan died Saturday after a brief illness.

The conference will be held in Kingston, Jamaica, on Wednesday, 1 April 2009.
The Forum, expected to be opened by Hon. Bruce Golding, Prime Minister of Jamaica, will be held under the theme `Promoting Human Prosperity beyond the Global Financial Crisis: Seeking Sustainable Solutions though Social Dialogue’.
