CARIFESTA XIII concludes; Trinidad and Tobago next host

The curtains came down on the thirteenth edition of the Caribbean Festival of Arts CARIFESTA XIII last evening. The ten-day mega cultural event ended with a closing ceremony at Kensington Oval Ground, President Kennedy Drive, Bridgetown, Barbados.

The night’s activities included a culmination of performances from various Caribbean countries that have performed throughout the festival and the passing of the baton to next host country of CARIFESTA XIIII, Trinidad and Tobago.

Caribbean Export brings regional designers to CARIFESTA XIII

At this year’s CARIFESTA XIII hosted in Barbados, the Caribbean Export Development Agency (Caribbean Export) will be facilitating the participation of designers and artisans from across CARIFORUM within their Design Caribbean and Caribbean Essence export promotion platforms.

CARIFESTA Rock Hall Living Museum

Members of the public are invited to the CARIFESTA Rock Hall Living Museum, which takes place on Sunday, August 20, at the Rock Hall Freedom Village, St. Thomas, from 9:30 a.m.

Youth To Be Vital Part Of CARIFESTA

CARIFESTA’s Youth Talk is expected to take the regional festival “to another dimension of the arts” in Barbados.

This is according to Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, Ruth Blackman, who identified the youth and the cultural industries as the two significant elements to be focused on at the festival.

She made these remarks on Thursday at the media launch of Youth Talk at CARIFESTA Youth Village, at the Inter-American Development Bank’s (IDB) office in Maxwell, Christ Church.
