PANCAP hosts meeting of Youth to discuss ending AIDS by 2030 - Youth Leaders to formulate and agree on framework for regional youth advocacy

The Pan Caribbean Partnership against HIV and AIDS (PANCAP) will host a meeting of youth leaders from 19 Caribbean countries on April 21 and 22, 2017 in Port of Spain, Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. 
 
The focus of the forum will be a discussion on the role of youth in the national and regional response to HIV and AIDS; participants will also be involved in formulating and agreeing on a framework for regional youth advocacy.
 

CARICOM SG meets with FIFA President - says sports a valuable investment in Youth

Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Ambassador Irwin LaRocque and President of the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA), Mr Giovanni Infantino agreed on the importance of sport to youth development and to society as a whole.

CARICOM and Cuba mark 44th anniversary of diplomatic relations with ‘growing friendship’

Chairman of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit of Dominica has hailed the ‘mutually beneficial relationship’ on the occasion of the 44th anniversary of CARICOM-Cuba diplomatic relations today, Thursday 8 December 2016.

In a Statement to mark the occasion, Prime Minister Skerrit noted CARICOM’s steadfast advocacy for Cuba’s integration into the wider hemisphere, beginning with the historic step by the first four Member States in breaking the hemispheric isolation of Cuba to embrace it into their diplomatic fold back in 1972. 

CARICOM electoral mission to Haiti conducts initial assessments

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Election Observer Mission (CEOM) is on the ground in Haiti conducting initial assessments of critical elements of the presidential and legislative electoral process.

The CEOM, led by Dr. Steve Surujbally, the Chairman of Guyana’s Elections Commission, arrived in the French speaking CARICOM Member State on Wednesday 16 November to assess the pre-election environment.  Haitians will cast their ballots on Sunday 20 November 2016.

Guyana, Suriname showcase folklore at Animae Caribe

Surinamese and Guyanese folklore were creatively featured in the Animae Caribe Animation and Digital Media Festival recently in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. This collaborative animated demo was presented at the Festival by the Suriname Animation Network (SAN) and Guyana Animation Network(GAN), who have joined efforts since July 2016 to advance regional collaboration in animation.
