BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, Advocate - THE recession has not caused the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) to renege on their election promises, but it has impacted upon them. This is according to Finance Minister, Christopher Sinckler, who was speaking at a joint branch meeting between his constituency of St. Michael North West and St. Michael North recently. “When we made the statement that we would try to maintain public sector employment, that we would try to defend the domestic currency, that is trying to maintain, not try; we would defend our domestic currency by trying to maintain adequate levels of foreign reserves, that we would try gradually over time to bring our fiscal deficit down.
