‘It’s not piracy if you have the right to do it’ – Mark Mendel

ST. JOHN’S, Antigua - Recently, there were two very interesting and important pieces of news in the local and international press that many people in Antigua & Barbuda might have overlooked.
The first was the announcement that President Obama had picked Michael Froman to be the new United States Trade Representative (USTR). The second was that Antigua may be looking for a partner to launch a website to help collect on the US$20+million per year award by World Trade Organization (WTO) regarding the gambling dispute with the United States.
Late last week, torrentfreak.com reported that “a lot of progress has been made behind the scenes and a source close to the Government of Antigua & Barbuda informed us this week that they would soon start accepting bids for the new media platform.” The site indicated that “one of the potential partners that has been suggested is none other than The Pirate Bay. The world’s largest file-sharing site has plenty of experience with online media distribution and its owners are unlikely to succumb to the inevitable pressure from the US Government.”
