KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC - Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller has acknowledged the reality of harsh conditions that may accompany an International Monetary Fund (IMF) agreement expected to be finalised during this New Year. “This new year will bring stark realities into focus, Jamaicans are capable and we must live up to the challenges, our people have what it takes to meet them head on, we have talent, we have the ideas we have clear and strong plans and we must summon on the collective way to succeed…” In her message to mark the start of 2013, Simpson Miller sought to assure Jamaicans that her administration will adhere to sound macro-economic policies whilst at the same time taking all necessary steps to foster increased investment in the economy, particularly in physical infrastructure and tourism.
