No layoff ‘crusade’, says PM

Sep 03, 2013

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, Advocate - PRIME Minister Freundel Stuart is set to meet with officials from the Ministry of Civil Service today.

Stressing that the Government has not embarked on a “crusade” to lay off persons in the public sector, the Prime Minister said the meeting will be held to ensure that the wrong persons are not ending up with dismissal letters.

Speaking to the media following a tour of the Limegrove Lifestyle Centre, he said, “What we are on a crusade to do is to increase efficiency in the public sector and I am aware that there have been some howls of protest from persons who got letters telling them their employment has come to an end. I am not sure why this has happened.”
