(Trinidad Guardian) Vasant Bharath, Minister of Trade, Industry and Investment and Minister in the Ministry of Finance and the Economy, received a courtesy call from his Costa Rican counterparts, Anabelle Gonzalez, Minister of Trade and Fernando Ocampo, Vice-Minister of Trade, on Friday at his Port of Spain offices.
Senator Bharath spoke at length about the government’s diversification thrust, with special emphasis on agriculture and food processing. He made passing reference to his visit to Costa Rica in 2011, where he was impressed by the advancements in agriculture. He also outlined the improvements made to facilitate trade and encourage foreign direct investment.
Minister Gonzales expressed the view that T&T plays an important role in Caricom and from her perspective, growth and development for Costa Rica through trade. She also promised to promote investment in T&T back in her home country. The meeting concluded with a commitment to developing a mutually rewarding working relationship. (Full article)
