MIAMI, CMC - The United States Coast Guard says it is investigating a report that a vessel exploded 26 miles east of Bimini, in the Bahamas late Tuesday. The Coast Guard said its search-and-rescue coordinators had received a report from the Operation Bahamas Turks and Caicos Operations Center indicating that a 35-foot fishing vessel had exploded after bursting into flames. It said that while the debris had been located, officials had not discovered any body and that a MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew is “assisting in the search of the debris field”.
