Shakiah T. Lewis is the conduit between perspective and peer.” A passionate youth advocate, educator, and regional leader from the fishing capital “South Caicos” in the Turks and Caicos Islands, known for her unwavering commitment to empowering young people and advancing sustainable development across the Caribbean.
A proud graduate of the University of Tampa with a Double Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Education, and has pursued further professional development in education, youth leadership, gender advocacy, and sustainable development through various regional and international programs. Her academic foundation, combined with her grassroots experience, has equipped her to work effectively at the intersection of education, community empowerment, and policy influence. She is deeply passionate about youth empowerment, sustainable development, and regional integration.
Being a member of the Turks and Caicos Island National Youth Parliament, Rotary International, and the Rotaract Club of Grand Turk, she uses her skills in education, volunteering, and youth advocacy to lead and support numerous initiatives focused on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), civic engagement, and gender equality. She stands boldly as an ardent worker, which has afforded her the prestigious title of the Turks and Caicos Islands. Female CARICOM Youth Ambassador 2024-2026. During this tenure, she has consistently fought to ensure the voices of the youth of the Turks and Caicos Islands are heard on a regional level. Now, as a representative voice for Caribbean youth, she is committed to ensuring that young people are not only included in national and regional conversations but are also leading them.
With a strong sense of purpose and a deep love for her culture and region, Shakiah continues to use her platform to inspire, educate, and elevate youth voices across CARICOM and beyond.
