"It is with deep regret that I have learnt of the unfortunate and tragic death of Mr Hugh Crosskill. Mr Crosskill's contribution to the development of the media in the Region was an outstanding one.

From his early beginnings as a broadcaster in his native Jamaica, then on to the fledgling Caribbean News Agency (CANA) before going on to head the Caribbean Service of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), he displayed a real talent.

Mr. Crosskill continued his service to country and Region with his return to Radio Jamaica Rediffusion (RJR) as General Manager. His professionalism and dynamism earned him the respect of his peers and of the wider society.

Despite the trials of his later life, he will certainly be remembered for his commitment to his profession and for the quality of his work in furthering the development of his profession and indeed of the entire Region.

Please convey on my own behalf and that of the Secretariat of the Caribbean Community our condolences to the family of Mr Crosskill.@
