CARICOM Chair and Prime Minister of Grenada, Hon. Dickon Mitchell, was warmly welcomed to the CARICOM Secretariat today, Thursday, 29 August, by Dr Carla Barnett and members of staff. Prime Minister Mitchell is leading the delegation of the Tourism, Trade and Investment Mission to Guyana from 27-30 August 2024. This four-day event aims to improve trade relations between the two CARICOM countries.

The Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA) and the Grenada Chamber of Industry and Commerce (GCIC) are the main coordinators. Stakeholders in the tourism and trade sectors of both nations will be engaged in meaningful exchanges, including a trade expo, business forum and the “Taste of Grenada” event, all surrounding the promotion of Grenada.

According to the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) Grenada, “this mission precedes the launch of a direct flight route between Grenada and Guyana once weekly on Saturdays, starting 28 September 2024, with InterCaribbean Airways.”

The OPM indicated that this initiative underscores Grenada’s commitment to improving interregional travel and demonstrates a significant step towards enhancing the economic and social connections between Guyana and Grenada.
