“Prime Minister:

On behalf of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), I extend warmest congratulations  to the Government and people of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago on the commemoration of your Sixty-Second Anniversary of Independence.

Trinidad and Tobago continues to create an indelible imprint on the world through music, literature, art, and sports. The rhythms and melodies associated with the steelpan, the national instrument of Trinidad and Tobago, reverberate globally.

I also commend the excellent contribution that the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago has made in the international arena, most recently as President of the Seventy-Eighth Session of the United Nations General Assembly. The determined efforts to ensure that climate change remains at the forefront of the global agenda as well as the steadfast advocacy for strengthening of the multilateral system including comprehensive reform of the United Nations Security Council are well recognised.

As CARICOM states continue to face new and evolving challenges, your leadership on Energy and Security within the CARICOM Quasi Cabinet remains crucial in ensuring the safety, stability and sustainable development of the Region.

As the Community joins the Government and people of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in celebrating this auspicious anniversary of Independence, I extend my very best wishes for the continued prosperity of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.”
