Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretary-General, Dr Carla Barnett is advocating for young people to be at the centre of policymaking, as the world observes International Youth Day 2024. In a message to mark the day she stated,
If there is one thing that must endure, it is the conversation with our young people. It is easy for older policymakers to make policy for young people as opposed to making policy with young people. You get a different result when young people are involved.
