The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) is deeply saddened at the passing of Ambassador Lorne McDonnough, CD, on Thursday, 8 August 2024.

Ambassador McDonnough had a career of distinguished service to the Caribbean Community. He served as the first Chief Executive Officer of the CARICOM Development Fund (CDF), where he managed, inter alia, the Country Assistance Programmes providing financial and technical assistance to disadvantaged countries, regions and sectors in the Community.

His service as a career diplomat on behalf of his country, Jamaica, included impactful representation at the hemispheric and international levels.

The Community recognises his broad expertise which supported the advancement and deepening of the regional integration movement.

CARICOM conveys its sympathies to his wife, family members, the Government of Jamaica, and his wider circle of friends and colleagues.
