CARICOM Competition Commission Launches Website

Aug 26, 2013

PARAMARIBO, 26th August, 2013. The CARICOM Competition Commission (Commission) is pleased to announce the official launch of its full-featured website www.caricomcompetitioncommission.com. The new-look website is currently designed to assist interested persons in understanding the work of the Commission and the basics and importance of competition law and consumer protection policy.

The website has content including the most recent news and articles about the Commission, as well as on competition law and policy in the CARICOM. Additionally, booklets that have been published, either by the Commission or the CARICOM Secretariat, on competition law and policy and consumer protection in the region are now readily accessible to the public.

Visitors to the website are now provided with an alternative way of directing queries to the Commission. A facility also now exists for complaints about anti-competitive business conduct to be made.

According to Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Kusha Haraksingh, the website is an important step in promoting the awareness of fair competition in the region and its benefits for businesses, consumers and the overall economic growth of CARICOM Member States. The website also facilitates the Commission’s mandate under Article 173 of the Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas, which is to promote and protect competition in the markets of the CARICOM region
