  1. SPECIAL DECISION ON COOPERATION IN HEALTH
    INCLUDING HIV/AIDS

CARICOM Ministers of Health in collaboration with the Pan Caribbean Partnership against HIV/AIDS, will meet with the relevant Officials of the Government of Cuba at the earliest opportunity, under the leadership of Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas, Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis and Lead Head of Government within CARICOM for Health (including Human Resource Development) to identify specific areas for cooperation with Cuba and the modalities for achieving the goals and objectives of the agreed programmes. These will include HIV/AIDS, the expansion of Nursing Education, Chronic Non Communicable Diseases, all modes of Rehabilitation Therapy, Medical Technology, Biotechnology and Research through collaboration among Universities.

Following this meeting a report will be forwarded to CARICOM Heads of Government for discussion at their 17th Inter-Sessional Meeting scheduled to be held on 9 and 10 Feb 2006 in Trinidad and Tobago.

  1. APPEAL FOR CONTINUED INTERNATIONAL SUPPORT FOR GRENADA’S RECOVERY

The Heads of State and Government extended their solidarity and support to Grenada in its efforts to recover from the devastation of last year’s hurricanes, and to strengthen its disaster preparedness and post disaster capabilities. They therefore called for continued international financial assistance to Grenada for the construction and rehabilitation and for the strengthening of international responses to these needs.
