Dec 22, 2005

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown)CARICOM Secretary-General, Edwin W. Carrington expresses his regret and sorrow at the death, earlier today, of veteran Caribbean journalist and public relations practitioner, Norman “Gus” Thomas of Antigua and Barbuda.

The Secretary-General recalls:

“Gus” Thomas was dogged and thorough, yet respectful and sensitive, in his approach to work. His sequential coverage of CARICOM summits has contributed in no small measure to the understanding and appreciation of regional issues, challenges and achievements, among the Caribbean Nationals in the region as well as among the Diaspora.

His diligent and insightful work as a media and public relations practitioner and interpreter of Caribbean Community affairs will be missed sorely.
