CARICOM PRIME MINISTERIAL MISSION TO HAITI

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) On Wednesday 18 October, 2006,   Hon. Dr Denzil Douglas, Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, and Chairman of the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM,   will lead a Prime Ministerial mission on a one-day visit to Haiti, in fulfillment of a decision made by the Heads of Government at their Twenty-Seventh Regular Meeting in St Kitts in July 2006. The mission, which will include the Honourable Roosevelt Skerrit, Prime Minister of Dominica, Dr the Honourable Kenny D Anthony, Prime Minister of Saint Lucia as well as Secretary-General Edwin Carrington, is to “demonstrate the Community’s support to the Government and people of Haiti” following that country’s re-admittance to the Councils of the Community.

The Prime Ministerial Mission will coincide with a visit to Haiti by a Technical Team from the Caribbean Community in response to the request by the Haitian President for CARICOM’s support in Haiti’s development efforts and in furtherance of its integration into the Caribbean Community.
