When Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Heads of Government meet in Suriname from 3-5 July, the implementation of the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME), food security and governance will be among the key matters for consideration.

In a pre-summit interview, CARICOM Secretary-General, Dr. Carla Barnett, said President of Guyana, His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, is to present a report following the CARICOM Agri Investment Forum and Expo. President Ali holds responsibility for agriculture in the CARICOM Quasi Cabinet.

The wide range of issues of importance to the Community that the Heads of Government will discuss include governance, and the way decisions are taken and implemented in the Community.

Dr. Barnett said "we're expecting that it will be a very fruitful meeting and we're working towards that."

The Meeting opens at 6pm on Sunday, 3 July at the Assuria Event Centre in Paramaribo, Suriname.
