Antigua seeking budgetary support from World Bank

ST. JOHN’S, Antigua, CMC – Antigua and Barbuda says it is seeking a development policy loan from the World Bank based on a comprehensive debt framework. A government statement gave no indication as to the size of the loan, but said that it is a “budget support instrument similar to the policy” at the Barbados-based Caribbean Development Bank (CDB). The statement said that a team from the World Bank had visited the island last week as a follow-up to a mission undertaken in November last year and that it held talks with Finance Minister Harold Lovell, Tourism Minister John Maginley and Minister of Telecommunications Dr. Edmond Mansoor. It said that the World Bank team also met with private sector officials. (Entire Article)
